2024-25 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

Honestly, they may get mixed and matched depending on the last change. I certainly cannot imagine going even a full series without some swapping around on the two lines not centered by Aho and Staal. Those two are probably set in stone, more or less.

We have our first Black Ace. Ruslan Khazheyev was recalled from Chicago
Well, you need a third goalie and it may as well be the 4th option on your AHL roster. It's not like you plan to actually play that guy, but you might need somebody to mind the door if one of the other two get hurt. And having another Russian speaker around won't hurt either.

That was Craig Kowalski's job back in '06, IIRC. His Wikipedia page states "He was spare Goaltenders of Carolina during the playoffs."

Ahh, the Killer. Yeah, that was his gig on the 06 Cup winners. And honestly, I'm not sure they wouldn't have played Alves ahead of him if push had come to shove and everybody ate a bad plate of clams or something

Jorge didn’t work for the Canes in 2006, so it would have come down to Killer or Tripp. I’m glad that whatever bug Gerber caught didn’t infest Ward too

Woof ... Tripp in net would be a worrying sight. Even when he was an active player, it was a worrying sight

Taylor Hall isn’t on the ice for practice. We’ll have to wait for RBAs post practice presser to see if it’s rest or injury related.

Definitely not a guy you want to lose. Especially post season. Hall has been a stud for the Canes. I had tempered expectations but have really liked what I've seen of him. Him bouncing around to 19 teams since being drafted always made me think he was problematic. But I never really paid attention to him.

This is only the 2nd time he’s been healthy since he won the Hart Trophy in 2018. He played 33 games for the Devils the next season, 65 for Devils/Coyotes, 53 for the Slugs/Bruins, 81 for the Bruins in 2021-22 but 71 total over the next 2 years for Chicago.

And weirdly, Hall has only played 40 NHL playoff games in his career. He played more playoff games with the Coyotes (yeah, I don't remember that either) than he did with the Devils. The majority of his post season exposure came from those three years he was in Boston, but that was on the downward slide of the Bruins window so he only got past the first round once. His production was pretty consistent though ... he's up to 31 points in those 40 games after the 2 points in Game 1 yesterday. Really solid support forward.
