2024-25 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

After Wilson laid out Alexandre Carrier on Sunday, the series was effectively over. The Caps scored 3 unanswered, the first coming 4 seconds after Carrier got off the ice, to win game 4, then wrapped it up last night. So after the hit, which came about 6:30 into the 3rd period on Sunday, the Caps outscored the Habs 7-1. Can’t let that happen.

Fortunately, unlike the Habs, we have vets who have been through this before with the Caps. When heck starts to break loose, Aho, Slavin, Staal, and Martinook are gonna have to lead. (The only other Cane that was on that squad was Svech.)

Well, Montreal had a say in that. They had the chance to get their backs up and fight back and never really did. And by fight back, I mean get their transition game going and put some pressure on that less than fantastic Caps D. Carolina won't go as timidly into that good night should they encounter a bit of adversity ... and it'll happen eventually. It always does.

I still can't believe that in game 1, Montreal had Laine and a kid that just flew in from Russia just a few days prior on the ice for a defensive zone faceoff in overtime. Wait, that faceoff wasn't due to an icing, was it? I can't remember.

Demidov looked very impressive. He also looked like he wasn't ready for the moment. Canes fans would do well to remember that while they pine for Nikishin

They were only faced with that situation because of an icing call. And that icing call was in dispute because the main reason a Habs player could not touch the puck was because he was 'engaged' by a Washington player just as the puck was passing by (which usually negates an icing call).

thought i had a scoop that draftkings has our game 1 monday at 7pm, but just also checked betmgm which lists it tuesday 7pm, and fanatics has it sunday at 7pm! so i guess they're all just placeholders.... i would have guessed we go sunday since there's only 1 game (max) scheduled, in the west, and no game if jets win friday, and the league would rather not have any dark nights.

funny that we're the odds favorite on all 3 sites, on the road, against the top seed for game 1.

All 4 match-ups tonight are elimination games. If all four series get wrapped up tonight, there will be nothing for Saturday. However, if none of the series get wrapped up tonight, then Saturday has 4 games 7s. Right now, there is only 1 game scheduled for Sunday, but even then that game is contingent on St. Louis winning on Friday night. May as well schedule game 1 of our series for Sunday.

that's what I was thinking - get us going sunday.

i just edited/added that fanatics has the game 1 on sunday, so all 3 sites i use disagree on the scheduling, meaning that nobody knows yet. i'm not sure why not to go ahead and get it scheduled, other than the potential scheduling for the other eastern semifinals series may affect when they want ours. maybe if toronto closes out ottawa tonight we'll get some clarity tomorrow.

Caps/Habs game 7 was scheduled for Sunday, that makes the most sense for game 1 and allows for games every other day, with games 3, 4 and 6 here on May 8, 10 and 14 getting around the concerts. Capital One has nothing on their calendar until October.

Someone from the Canes has to nail Wilson before he gets to one of their players. Catch him with his head down and let him have it. I don’t even care if it’s dirty. Beat him to the punch!

Practice lines today. Aho is missing for personal reasons (baby Aho?). Stillman and Robinson are also missing. Roslovic and Jost are placeholders. And Freddie is back at full practice.

Svechnikov-Roslovic*-Blake
Hall-Kotkaniemi-Stankoven
Martinook-Staal-Jarvis
Jost**-Jankowski-Carrier

Slavin-Burns
Orlov-Chatfield
Gostisbehere-Walker
Nikishin-Morrow

Andersen
Kochetkov

Kinda weird ... Vegas has both lower seeded teams in the East as the favorites in Round 2. Both Carolina and Florida are the betting favorites for now.

Freddy back with the regular group and practicing is music to my ears! Now how do you keep those simpletons like Wilson and Duhaime from crease crashing yet again this next round ahead???

they should put guys on the ice to prevent that stuff in some way, they should wear neutral colors though like black and white maybe? :)
