OK. I guess they got tired of having No. 7s that they couldn't trust to actually play. Thank goodness. Nothing special about Reilly but if he's healthy he can play a shift. That's an improvement over Smith and Stillman, if nothing else.
I think Dallas would be crazy to trade him when they can probably just get under the cap problems they have by dumping Dumba and/or Lybushkin. So, I take it that my hoped for trade to get Jason Robertson just ain't gonna happen?
They apparently haven't registered it yet, because that doesn't show up on any of the contract tracking sites. The again, everybody was sort of busy yesterday.Cory Lavalette says that Primeau signed for the NHL minimum. A much easier negotiation than the Canes last one with his father.
The Canes will definitely be taking a big step back by losing Brent Burns. Just unconscionable to let him walk away for nothing. He was their number 1 defensive option for the past 10 or whatever seasons he was there! Slavin only looked good because of Burns! They'll be lucky to be a wildcard team. They didn't make any other moves to improve their forward position. And no, none of us will ever watch any of their games this season until the Eastern Conference Championship that they will lose to the Panthers because they are definitely not making the playoffs.
Seems fair. I'd also rate Carolina's off season thus far as an A- ... good progress, taking some risks but continuing to transition towards more of a rush attack while still maintaining the forechecking presence. Still a few things to address, but it's early days. Hard to complain, given what the player market turned into.![]()

Two road games to kick off the year in the NY/NJ corridor, swing back home for the home opener just before the State Fair...then jet off for the annual 6 game State Fair roadie swing during the Fair through exotic locales like Utah, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg...then why not back home on a boring Tuesday night vs Ottawa...The NHL schedule will be released at 1 today. What new and inventive ways will the schedule monkey screw us this year? More than 20 back to backs? A couple of extended west coast roadies?
