2024-25 NHL Misc. Thread

And now that the Avs have about 0 leverage in this situation, they ain't getting no Mikka Rantanen type of player back for him. Can we heap a bit more praise on Tulsky for trading Necas? He didn't wait until any sort of demands that Necas threw at him to deal his ass before it all became public.

I'm sending train hopper cars full of praise to GMET for moving Necas down the line. Necas being somebody else's problem is a great way to be. Martin Necas is a good player, his father's, his agent's, and his personal opinion of his skillset and value is off the mark. Send him to Buffalo and let's see what kind of freakin' star he is...that is IF the Alugs have anything Colorado wants/needs.

Does Necas even have an official no trade clause in his current contract? If not, then hell yeah, send that effer to Buffalo for a first round pick and be done with him.

His current contract does not have any no movement or no trade clauses.

Send him to Mike Grier out in San Jose and you’ll never hear his name again. I forgot they even had a team
 
Necas has quite the skill set, but he’s not a guy who really drives the play— at least he wasn’t here. He’s a supplemental piece that has one heck of a shot. Grateful, ET had sense enough to kick this potential headache down the road. i just found him too streaky and got Himself ahead of the play. He’s not the swizzle stick, but he is a mixer.
 
It will be interesting to see where he might end up next if the Av's really do move him before the deadline, if it's only money he is most interested in I am sure there are some bottom feeder teams that would love to have him.

I don't see how this can be about anything other than money. He's in a pretty damn good situation in Denver right now. Is he convinced that the Avs have no chance at winning a Cup? I'd say that they have as good of a chance as anyone else in the league right now.
 
When you're a legend in your own mind, which team is good enought to have him? I'd be willing to bet that 80%+ of the players in the current NHL wouldn't mind playing for the Avs and their chances at the Cup. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but I bet I'm right.

My son in Denver texted me with this news the other day and said the press in Denver are basically assuming that Necas will be moved during camp. The issue for the Avs of course is that they are still in a Cup window so they won't want to just fire him into the sun for picks or whatever. But the presentation of a list is a bad, bad sign.

Frankly, my only serious thought on this is to be thankful that Carolina isn't dealing with this nonsense in camp this year. All the stray ridicule they caught during the Rantanen sage was worth it to avoid this.

What do you flavor with Rantanen sage? Sun roasted Necas?
