I recall CaneFanT told me he about had to belt a Leafs fan in 2002. Must have been the exception. For you long timers in here that remember the tailgates and fan interaction in 2002 in the ECF you know it was a helluva good time and the back and forth with Toronto fans and all those Canadians was a much more enjoyable experience and series than Buffalo fans in our barn or Ranger fans etc…I hope that plays out for another run.
We had excellent, friendly interactions with Leafs fans on 02. Buffalo fans on 06 are a completely different storyI must be the exception, every Leafs fan I encountered were among the happiest drunks I’ve ever encountered.
Yeah, the guy pissing on a car on his way into the arena, the near fistfight becuase some over served douchebag tried to put hands on my 17 year old daughter. Grabbing pint glasses off the tables and smashing them. Good times…We had excellent, friendly interactions with Leafs fans on 02. Buffalo fans on 06 are a completely different story
Only 8 Presidents Trophy winners have also hoisted the Stanley Cup, and the last time was 12 years ago. The curse is still in effect.Sorry Jets fans, my fault! I was pulling for you to somehow pull this off. My bad.
And sometimes they stick a pitchfork in your head. Poor dude loses his Dad, scores a goal and then takes the penalty that leads to the game winner against. Just gut wrenching stuffScheifele takes a penalty at the end of regulation, Dallas converts on the PP in OT. Sometimes the hockey gods smile on you, sometimes they don’t.
I remember that game day well. There were SO many Leafs fans and they were SO drunk. It's was a wild game in a lot of ways.In the 2002 playoffs, I remember pulling into the East parking lot and there were a lot more Leafs fans than I expected. I was flying Hurricanes window flags and some booed me...whatever. When one drunk guy said "Go back to Carolina!" I had to stop and tell him to look around, because we sure as hell weren't in Toronto. His friends laughed at him. After I parked, I learned it was Victoria Day, so they had time off and got an early start on the tailgate, which isn't allowed in Toronto. I walked around with my cooler on wheels and found the guy who told me to go back to Carolina. He thought I was going to start something, but I offered him a beer and we toasted to the Stanley Cup.
