AHL paper loans are eliminated. Teams can’t accrue cap space by sending a player to the AHL on paper only, they must play at least 1 AHL game before they can be recalled.
Blake must have gone down and back at least 10-12 times last season. The Canes used this extensively this past season.
I think it means that the Canes won’t be wearing shorts and sneakers on the first day of training camp.Fitness testing is prohibited?!!That seems broad— fitness as in body fat or fitness in a medical sense? Are we returning to time where guys would use training camp to detox and get in playing shape? If someone could give context, I’d appreciate an explanation…
I remember Kevin Hatcher coming into camp around 2000 absolutely dragging ass, with sweat just boiling off him on every drill. He couldn't hardly keep up with the trainers as they walked across the ice & Hatcher was on skates. Mo was way not impressed at the lack of condition he came into camp and absolutely worked the fool out of him.Fitness testing is prohibited?!!That seems broad— fitness as in body fat or fitness in a medical sense? The scarcity in the market for centers seems to point to KK staying I think, there may be a couple interesting names pop up on the waiver wire though.Last day for ordinary course buyouts. Teams will have to place players on waivers for that purpose by Noon today. Does KK make it past the potential U25 1/3 buyout? I expect yes....
It'll have to be more than that eventually. Even if they plan to LTIR Pietrangelo, his contract combined with Roy's only gets them to $11.8 million.Vegas and the Leafs working on a sign and trade deal for Marner, if that goes down that’s probably a gigantic 8 year x $13 or $14 million for Marner. Former Cane Nic Roy rumored to be part of it per Friedman.
Frankly, I'm glad to see that loophole closed. Carolina wasn't the only team doing it and it got sort of silly. The Canes used this extensively this past season.
