2024-25 NHL Misc. Thread

Yeah, the most NHL move ever right there. Lucic hasn't had a meaningful season since 2017 and is 37 years old. Forgetting his off ice issues (hard to do, honestly ... he and his wife famously led an anti bullying campaign for years before she called the cops on him for beating the crap out of her), he's an old man who is 7-8 tears past being an actual NHL player who was wildly over-rated even in his prime. I'm surprised the Blues gave him a PTO instead of just handing him a 1 year over-age deal with all sorts of easy to reach incentives. After all, if noted fitness freaks Corey Perry and Brent Burns can play to age 40, surely this lurching fat guy who couldn't even catch up with anybody to hit them in 2023 can do it.

Utah goalie Connor Ingram has been cleared by the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program to return to the league. It was his 2nd time through the program. He entered the program in March to focus on his mental health after the death of his mother a few months earlier. He had also been treated for OCD in 2021. He’s going to have a problem breaking back into the lineup though. Utah signed Vitek Vanecek as a free agent to back up Vejmelka.

At his best, Ingram is better than Vejmelka and a lot better than Vanecek, but his best has been elusive. Seems like a guy who's really been through the wringer so I hope he has a a good showing this season before he hits free agency in the summer.

We going to have an opening next summer…

The Blackhawks signed forward Frank Nazar to a 7 year/~$6.6 million extension. He’s going into the last year of his entry contract. He okayed 3 NHK games in 2023-24 and 53 games last year. He has 13 goals and 14 assists in this 56 games.

Yr 1: $9.1M
Yr 2: $8.66M
Yr 3: $6.6M
Yr 4-7: $5.46M

20 Team NTC yrs 6-7

Vegas seems like the kinda team that would have no problem or shame bringing Hart in despite the past…and their goaltending situation isn’t exactly stellar for a so called top contender.

Marco Rossi is off the market. Minnesota signed him, 3 years/$5 million AAV. His salary starts at $4 million and increases by $1 million each year. He’ll be a RFA with arbitration rights, 1 year from UFA, and his QO will be $6 million.

I figured that was the most likely outcome. The Wild obviously couldn't get any traction in the trade market, even with the scarcity of centers, because Rossi is such a specific flavor of player. At the end of the day, it's up to John Hynes to figure out how to get more out of him ... good freaking luck with that. But with Eriksson Eck as your 1C, it seems to me like you could easily find a use for a speedy, offensive minded 2C like Rossi. You know, if you weren't John Hynes.

Granted that Nazar is a center, but give me Jackson Blake at 8 x $5.1 million AAV over Frank Nazar at 7 x $6.6 million AAV every single time.
