2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

that would get silly pretty quick i think.
And?

No new contracts can be signed so it should not impact the cap integrity. If a team wants to add 40 mil to payroll and spend the assets to do that it helps the rebuilding teams get assets faster.

Agreed but the other teams do better on the other 92% of the cap

Other teams failures are mainly asset management stupidity not the tax difference

Seriously. Do you not understand how stupid your take on this is?

You're working under this weird assertion that other teams being beat by this are failing because they make bad decisions....when if they are making decisions of the same fucking quality as a non tax team, they lose by 8-9% by structure.

The whole point of this fucking system is to take away systemic financial advantage. The entire fucking point.

Yeah, I mean what's the point of the cap anyway if it doesn't apply in the playoffs?

well the cap was always only about keeping player salaries at a percentage of league revenue, not about enforcing competitiveness, so that's not really the issue.

it just seems to me that it would create a weird situation where some teams could literally double their payroll at the deadline (while only actually paying a fraction of the actual increase)......but i could be wrong.

Your going way way way fucken overboard on this one

These teams had the advantage for decades nobody wanted to play for them , they have created a winning culture now

Some contracts are hardly any bargains , BOBO 10 mil , Sergashev 8.5 etc... if you factor in the tax issue

These are examples of total fiscal disadvantage

Dodgers and Mets 300 fucken mil and 75 % of the league cant touch them for players in free agency

Soto makes more than some franchises this year

GSW spend 400-500 mil on payroll winning titles and most teams cant afford 200-300 on luxury bills

Your crying over 8-9% that mainly affects your core 4-5 players , 8 mil in Florida vs 9.3 elsewhere etc..

Seriously are your Leafs playoff fuck ups because of the 8-9% or the moronic trade deadline deals , bloated contracts , terrible drafting and piss poor asset management that waited too long to change the DNA .

Zito and Nill have done a great job drafting and developing and turning rejects and reclamation projects into solid players

The rest of the league has a smaller margin for error and needs to make much smarter decisions but they can all compete
