2025-2026 Pittsburgh Penguins Regular Season Ongoing Thread

This week? Colorado at home on Tuesday, Ottawa away on Thursday, then the Dallas Stars at home on Saturday.

6-2 loss to Colorado; 4-3 win in a shootout (2 in a row!) vs Ottawa; 6-3 loss to Dallas.

In our last 13 games (since we started March giving up 0 to Vegas in a win and 2 to Boston in an SO loss), we've given up 4 or more goals in 11 of them. Just not going to cut it, regardless of Sid/Geno missing today's game with Dallas.

At least Erik Karlsson is continuing his torrid March. A goal and two assists today means he's had 9 goals and 15 assists this month in 15 games. Phenomenal!

Since last week
  • Beat the Islanders 8-3 on Monday, scoring the last 7 goals
  • Beat the Red Wings 5-1 on Tuesday
  • Got clobbered by Tampa 6-3 on Thursday
2nd in the Metro, 3 points up on the Isles with a game in hand, 4 ahead of Columbus on the same number of games. Not sure how but we've got two straight home games tomorrow and Sunday vs Florida. Have to win both.

The first of the two games: Pens take a quick 2-0 lead within the first five minutes of the game. Sid tied Stevie Yzerman with 1755 points on the second goal, by Erik Karlsson. Then they gave up goals in the 7th and 14th minutes, ending the first period at 2-2.
The second period onward? All Penguins, as they scored six times. Geno's first was his 1400th career point, the 23rd player ever. Sid's secondary assist on that goal puts him ahead of Yzerman into 7th all time at 1756. Geno scored again, and others got in on the fun.
The third period saw Geno's hat trick and the Pens 7th consecutive goal before Florida scored two consolation goals to make it 9-4 final. We go again tomorrow.

To me, the important thing was putting the bad loss to Tampa behind us as quickly as possible. But they need the crowd even louder tomorrow. Florida will have a fire in their bellies after that humiliation.

Can't believe this happened. It's been pretty apparent for a couple of weeks they'd likely get there but to have it actually happen? Just can't believe it

Lost back-to-back games (home and away) to the Caps, keeping them in the playoff hunt. Can't be too upset by it, though, especially the home game where Crosby, Malkin, et. al sat out. Just awaiting the first round playoff matchup, whomever it is
