This is excellent news. Nystrom could easily fall into the 7th D role next season and this contract pegs the cost pretty much right where you want it to be for that role. And then you can get off the merry-go-round of bringing in some new guy for that role every year. And also, if he ramps up a notch and can play in your Top 6 full time, then cool. He's a freaking bargain in that role.
Just FWIW, I just talked to my Dad about State football tickets and parking for next season and he got an email yesterday from the Wolfpack Club announcing that there would be no site development work until after the conclusion of State's 2026 football schedule ... so, basically Thanksgiving at the earliest. Seeing as how that's a terrible time to start that kind of project, it might even stretch out until the Spring of 2027.
I'm still struggling to understand what the plan for arena parking will be once they close most of the paved parking west of the arena, but whatever. It's getting kicked down the road so that's a problem for another year/season.

The pace of construction inside is moving slowly too. The alleged bar on the 3rd floor is still under construction. There are temporary walls up blocking access to that part of the concourse and there are signs at the top of the escalator directing fans to their sections. There is a concession stand surrounded by temporary walls. They took down the counters and charging stations between concourse entrances.
Same with the party deck (still under black tarps) and the areas that have temporary construction walls on the lower concourse also haven't budged. People are starting to grumble, which is to be expected, but honestly EVERY construction project in the area has been crippled by labor and supply chain issues over the last 6-8 months. So ... yeah. Not gonna get into the why in this forum. About the only sector that hasn't been impacted in a major way is roadway construction.
At this point, I'm more concerned with the lack of public information about what they plan to do once they break ground on that work in the existing parking areas. By now, they HAVE to have developed some sort of plan, and I suspect it's gonna suck for the fans or else they would have at least talked about it.

I'm fearful of the parking changes to come for those of us who buy season parking passes. We currently have very good luck with our quick and easy access to Wade Avenue following the games. It only takes a few minor traffic changes around the arena to screw traffic up to a crawl.
On the upside, the new lane configuration on Wade Ave is finally starting to come together and it makes it much easier to get on the beltline heading towards North Hills.
Oh, and the projects on Falls of the Neuse and Atlantic Ave are also FINALLY starting to inch closer to completion. Like I say, roadway construction is still chugging along pretty good, even if the project was a quagmire to begin with ... like most of that stuff. We might get that Blue Ridge tunnel about the time they finish installing the (mythical) monorail.

Getting onto Wade from the East 2000 lots has been a nightmare the last 2 or 3 games. But with the new pavement finally down, they should be ready for 2 full exit lanes onto the inner Beltline.

Beep beep. By the way, I know you’ll get sick of it but I plan to use the bus meme I made after every win (unless I’m shooting a game and not home for it). I mean it’s just to easy and to perfect for the bus to be running over fools

I think it will be. They were pretty vague when they extended us to March so hopefully they'll include the rest of the season and any post season games.

As the Rangers continue to spiral, I'm still thinking that the Canes might finally find our Vincent Trocheck replacement via a trade for....Vincent Trocheck. Its a shame his current contract has 3 more seasons after this once which takes him into his mid-30s....but he can still play and is still that +++ RH faceoff guy we have never been able replace. His $5.625 million AAV is a now a bargain really for all he does.
