Well, it works in the NHL at least. The NBA is a different beast and there are a LOT more intelligent front offices in that league than in the NHL … where simply having a smart plan and being disciplined enough to stick to it gives you a significant competitive edge. I’m sure he’ll find a way to operate that works eventually. It just might look more different than the Hurricanes’ general thing than Tom assumes it will going in.

Some of the complaints are petty, like flying guys on 2 way contracts to the game. They’re not eligible to play, so why bring them? Do NHL teams haul the Black Aces around in the playoffs?

The one legit complaint I saw was about not reserving the hotel beyond checkout time on game day. Like what are they supposed to do, hang around the lobby until it’s time to go to the game? That just seemed stupid.
