McDavid will get $20m+ per season from someone not named Edmonton.
 
I'm happy we have a new owner and the franchise is healthy, but I miss getting last minute tickets for $10-15. And parking across the street for free. For 2-4 people now, it's a $500 night out. I'd rather go on vacation.

About as good an illustration of the two Cap eras as you could find. Ehlers hit on a year when the Cap was just starting to rise, but those other three signed long term deal in what amounted to a dead Cap era. In retrospect, the PA really just have been more aggressive in putting an end date on the Covid Cap restrictions. It made sense to restrict salary increases to match revenue drops, but revenue took off WAY before they took the brakes off the Cap. The salary cost savings from that era will serve the owners for a long time to come. And for once, the Hurricanes hit the timing just right.

Yep. I recall my first sticker shock at modern concert increases several years ago. Parking was $40. Beers in a cup were $18, cans were $16. I bought a $5 water. After dropping $250 for 2 tickets, I didn't feel like spending any more money.
 
I'm not even bothering thinking about the Metallica show.

I'll have to live w/ my memory of seeing them blow Ozzy off the stage in 1986 and the 1991 (?) Black Album tour at Walnut Creek when we were all young and shows were affordable!

I wish I could find my 1977 Led Zepplin ticket. I think it was $7.

I saw Metallica twice at Rockingham Speedway. The festival was cuckoo for cocoa puffs
 
I saw Bonnie Bramlett, REO Speedwagon, and Lynyrd Skynyrd in Dorton Arena on a $5.00 general admission ticket in 1974. We had folding chairs parked center stage in the second row. It was a blast. The fact that it happened 52 years ago might have somethig to do the price. I don't feel that old, but these days, the mirror begs to differ.

I came up in the $15-18 ticket days of high school and college. I remember as a young adult seeing prices creep up to $35-50. Then we paid $75 to see Kiss 76-96 in Greensboro! Now I go to maybe 2 shows a year, because it's $175 a ticket and $40 to park. Although I have seen some absolutely tremendous shows at places like House of Blues or the Ritz for around $50, Corey Taylor, Eric Johnson, etc
 
The many shows I saw at Nassau Coliseum when I was in high school (Aerosmith, The Cars, Ted Nugent, The Kinks, Billy Joel, and many more) were priced at $8.95 in the lower deck and $7.95 in the upper deck.

The last show I saw was BLS, COC, and some NW band that was pretty damned good. Pre-Covid at The Ritz for about $50. Mike Dean is a freind, so I usually would go see COC when they were in town. BLS, meh, my back gave out and Zak choking strings every fourth bar gets real old, real fast for me.

I came to like bar shows more than arena shows.
 
I am at a point in my life where I can afford to spend money on shows and hockey and sit where I want. I just can’t get over paying $250 a ticket, $40 to park and $20 for a beer. Spending $600 for a night out just seems so greedy and stupid, especially when I could go to the Superdome for shows in the 1970s and 1980s for $12.

You’re more likely going to catch me in smaller venues and buying tickets from venues that don’t use Ticketmaster. If it’s at Walnut Creek or Lenovo, I’m not going.
