2025-26 NHL Miscellaneous Thread

The longer that game went, the more inevitable Tampa became. Not in the stats, but definitely in the “been there, done that” of it all.
Yea, I’m surprised it went as long as it did. Bolts were throwing dangerous shots on them for a long time and the Habs were basically hanging on.

So, other than Montreal/Tampa, we got everything else closed out last night. Buffalo escorted the Bruins out of their pretensions and Vegas veteran-ed Utah back to the golf course. That Mammoth team has the feel of a group learning the ropes though. They’re close to doing some damage.

Here come the Edmonton excuses to cover up for McJesus. Apparently he played through a broken foot, 3 strokes, a massive coronary and an aneurysm in their first round loss.

I mean, playing through a broken bone in his foot or ankle is an actual issue, so unless you just prefer not to know then I don’t know what to tell you. And Stan Bowman danged well better be cooking up some excuses if he wants to keep his job … which he absolutely should not.

10 games for Boulerice’ing
Minimum. Pretty sure McAvoy has priors and swinging a stick at a guy is the one thing the NHL seems to be serious about. Not serious enough for anybody to check the tape and punish Rantanen for the stick he put into Kaprizov’s face the other night, of course.

Yeah. Minnesota is thin at center to begin with, so losing the big guy is going to be bigger bite out of their setup than for most remaining teams. They were already playing freaking Hartman at center on a scoring line with Kaprizov and Zuccarello. Who do you even slide up?

I saw where DPOS is finally going to get around to that hearing with Ridly Greig on Monday. Nice of you to remember that was on your plate, guys.

I’d assume they’d want Yurov in the lineup since they have to get some sort of offensive presence up front but they seem to have largely given up on him as a top 6 guy. Hard to believe that Haight is the best they can do in that whole system. He’s just an average AHL player, really.

So … the Leafs just hired John Chayka as their new GM. Yeah, the guy who got fired for cheating when he was with the Coyotes … like 5 years ago. I think he’s been running Wendy’s franchises in the meantime. Seriously. They also hired Mats Sundin as a senior executive advisor, presumably to sit between Chayka and ownership. I don’t know where to start, so I’m just leaving this here. If you know Leafs fans, maybe give them a wide berth for a little bit. Or a hug. Whichever works for you

Does that mean his sister Meghan will stop working on Sabres TV broadcasts?
