2025-26 NHL Miscellaneous Thread

Around the league last night … nah. Carolina/Philly was the only game in town. Tonight will be better with Game 2 in Buffalo/Montreal and Game 3 in Vegas/Anaheim. Both should be pretty telling. I expect Montreal to find their feet in Buffalo a bit after looking a step slow in Game 1. They really need a split to avoid having to play from behind the entire series with what’s basically still a very young team. Vegas now gets to try and figure out how to slow down the Ducks without benefit of last change. If they can’t do it, then that series could swing hard in the SoCal leg.
 
MTL has to look better than they did in Game 1. That was not a good performance. BUF and MTL had stout series in the 1st round and going into this round, I expected a like series this round.

Philly was bad in game 1 vs the Canes in part because they went 6 with Pitt and only had 2 days off. MTL went 7 with Tampa and only had 2 days off. They should be much more acclimated in game 2 just like Philly was.
 
Yeah, each round is its own thing and it sometimes takes younger teams a game to get adjusted to the differences. I almost always wait until we’ve seen two games before I start writing anybody off.

Apparently I’m more patient than a lot of people … which is weird because I’ve never considered myself particularly patient. I know they do the best they can in the playoffs, and I know building availability and travel restrictions play a huge role. They’ll play ‘em when they play ‘em.
