Francophones aren't a race and no one has a phobia about them. What people do have a problem with is the severe disparity in talent and skill development between the Q and the other two junior leagues. Simply put, you can't know if Desnoyer could put up an 84 point season like he did in Moncton if he were playing in Oshawa or Kelowna. Maybe he could, but history has shown time and again that gaudy point totals in the Q rarely translate to the NHL, while OHL and WHL numbers track more accurately into the big league.
Maybe Desnoyers is as good as he appears to be, or maybe he's Angelo Esposito.
So what are the rules when Spence goes the NCAA route when he gets drafted by the Habs
Is it 4 years or 2 before you decide to sign them

They’ll have to change something in the cba, because some of these kids are going to get drafted and think, nah, I’ll just wait till FA now and that’s bad for the league and business.

OHL is going to get more watered down w top end juniors bolting via NCAA development path - assume WHL will follow suit w same expected outcome

Kinda, sorta. They will lose their top end players in the post draft years.This is obviously devastating for tier 2 - why Penticton joined the WHL and why USHL teams wanted in in the OHL (but were denied).
I am enjoying the collapse of the CHL with stars leaving for the NCAA The exploitation of teenagers while raking in millions of dollars for decades finally caught up. Franchise values in the Canadian Junior Leagues will continue to plummet.
Next : hope there is compensation set up for these young guys to play in world, junior hockey championships, and such bizarre competitions in the middle of summer.

Um the NCAA has exploited athletes for years
These guys are getting paid to transfer over. The CHL hasn’t made that leap. Let them compete in the open market.
Non Americans don't get NIL money and hockey players get little if any NIL money anyway
