You can walk and chew gum at the same time.

You think it's overpaying while we think it's fair market value.

But let's play your game for fun, let's say we decide to go cheap to save 1-1.5M a year. Now we roll the dice on a player that we don't know as well, and don't know how he'll fit in. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. But if it doesn't, now we need to find another player, while also getting rid of the one that didn't work out. And now we might have to spend assets to acquire another player that also might or might not fit in.

Doesn't seem to be worth the risk for saving a million a year, and we might end up paying more in the end. I don't think Evans on that deal would be hard to move at all if we need to.

Exactly! This is the same bullshit argument we heard with Danault. We "had" to pay him because he was "elite" at killing penalties, a skill that literally anyone can be trained to do well. I said at the time that we should dump Danault because Evans will replace what he does for less money and that is precisely what happened. Now Evans wants his bag and im saying the same thing. Dump him and get someone else, be it Beck or whoever, to replace him.

Bottom 6 guys literally grow in trees and can be had cheaply. Don't waste money on them.

Yeah, instead of paying Danault 5.5, we spend a first and a second to get Dvorak at 4.5. Sure was worth it to save 1M.
