I would put the chances of Laine ever being on a Canes roster at just about 0%.

I’m positive NYR are going to go hard after Rantanen and probably offer up Kreider but IMO Laine is probably the better asset at present

let the desperate Rags do it ...they are toast moving forward

I don't think the Canes would flip Rantanen to a team chasing them in the standings? The offer to the Canes would have to be something ridiculous.

It’s more that you’d see them in the playoffs. Canes look safe, it’s NJD who are cratering.

Yet Habs & Canes were rumored to be finalists in acquiring Laine from CBJ…

I’m assuming HuGo being willing to absorb entire cap hit was the difference maker

unless Canes are able to turn those picks into immediate scoring help (hello Boeser), I don’t see pick / prospect type deal being the acquisition cost
