2025 NHL Trade Deadline

Nope - playing high intensity late season / playoff games is imperative for the 53% of the players on this roster that have a Habs future.

Can’t pull the feet out from underneath Hutson for some late 1st round pick which historically has 20% chance of ever playing a single NHL game
Not playing high intensity games late in the season means nothing

Our team was thrown to the wolves during the covid run with limited experience and our players did well

Do you have any inkling just how painful it is reading some of your posts?

I'm with you. I'm a maybe on Laine as well but we'll see how it plays out. He's a game breaker and we've been needing a guy like this for a long time. I also don't think he's anywhere near 100%. He's still getting back in game shape.

I'm also not sold on the defense and like you I think they'll try to get another RHD for the top pair. Depends on how Reinbacher progresses.
Who misses 5 games with the flu?

Side note - Lane Hutson / Kucherov / MSL etc are specifically why the draft & this whole “need to develop players better” is a red herring, and proof that a player either has elite hunger to work hard to achieve success or they don’t
Elite players develop no matter what but development matters for all the others.

That was a veteran team with solid leadership from guys like Price, Weber, Perry, Staal, Toffoli, etc. Nick, Caufield and KK were pretty much the only young guys on that run.

The team had zilch playoff experience for years and thrust into the playoffs after a 4 month hiatus with no prep time

You cant get any more pressure than this , way worse than going through a normal season where chemistry is developed and ramping up to play meaningful games in April .

Habs have plenty of vets on this roster to help the kids , I dont see an issue.

Plus roster changes are expected from year to year so there is no momentum to be gained when a new season starts .
