Well then how come the fan and media pressure doesn't prevent the Leafs from finishing atop the devision and consistently delivering 100 point regular seasons before suddenly becoming an issue when the playoffs start?

Tkatchuk has zero goals vs Leafs....how come media in Florida is not all over him.....guaranteed that if Panthers were in Canada, media would be all over him, even if his team won.....Habs were winning and media were still all over Laine

There's a reason Tkatchuk and Marchand made those comments regarding Leafs players after the series

It's a complete cop out. The Leafs are apparently the only professional franchise in all sports that can't perform due to pressure.
 
I don’t ever recall Price complain about the market pressure - and no NHL player has the type of pressure a Habs starting G has to deal with

It's a cop out reserved for weak-willed players like Marner and Matthews. If they can perform in the regular season there's no excuse to die in the post-season. The media horde is the same from the golf tournament onward. The media and fan expectations don't change from October to May. Everything is the same.

This isn't about the external pressures of fans or media. This is about fragile, fraudulent "star" players choking like dogs in games that matter. If Matthews was playing in Columbus or Utah he'd still be a choking dog and so would Marner. They are weak between the ears.

When you demand the kind of money Marner does and you choke in the games that matter you deserve whatever shit gets dumped on you. There shouldn't be anywhere for you to hide. You want the harassment to stop? Give back the money you stole. It's called "accountability".

Back in the old days when players made peanuts and instead of flying off to Bali after the season had to stay in town and work regular summer jobs around regular fans, they had to put up with 4 solid months of "Why did you guys blow it?" and "Why do you suck?" that they couldn't get away from. It was a better motivator than any amount of money could achieve. Name and shame.
