2025 NHL UFA/Trade Thread

The only thing that makes sense is Kyrou asked for a trade.

Still don't see why a team would trade a 30 goal player.

I also don't see where he would fit on the Habs unless he plays center. I think we need a natural center and not a pseudo-center.

Where would he fit on the top two lines?

McGuire said today on TSN690 based on what he’s hearing there are big time deals coming across the league as lots of GMs are concerned for their jobs - owners apparently fed up excuses of why they’re not winning and with nearly $26M cap ceiling increase over next 3-seasons they want revenue now
 
The Panthers' top 7 forwards, and top 3 dmen are all signed past 2030, and nobody makes over 10M cap hit.

Being in Florida helps, as I doubt guys like Tkatchuk, Reinhart, Bennett would have signed for similar cap hits elsewhere

Owners are fed up what a laugh

League is too watered down and many regimes are morons with their approach to winning

Many teams will not be able generate the revenue to offset cap increases and I can see half the league be near the floor

Most contracts are simply the tax savings ... an 8 mil Bennett is 9+ elsewhere
 
Matheson and Dach cap hit =$8.2 M
Kyrou cap hit =$8.1M

Not saying that’s the trade but at this point both teams need to be looking at cap space to make any deal happen. Blues though would then get out from under four more years of KYROU.

Maybe they need to throw us a sweetener for that.

I dont want Kyrou , nice player but doesnt fill any need for a big 2C or PF who can score

If we let the emu walk this isnt the move to make for me

We need another Bolduc move for Matheson , promising yute and a depth piece on D

Allows us to love on from Laine. 2C is a separate issue.
