Hockey Canada doesn't do fuck all to make the sport affordable. And kids can get exercise that doesn't involve $1K worth of hockey equipment. Its not the only sport out there.
There is no "right" to play hockey or any other sport but if the government wants to fund it so that underprivileged kids can play, Im happy for them to do that. But anything on which taxpayer money is spent needs to be scrutinized and regulated.

The judge isnt infallible, and is clearly ignorant about the culture in which these players felt entitled to take what they wanted.
That was a jury verdict fueled by the desire for retribution. Whole different animal than a dispassionate female judge who rendered a 3 hour decision.And OJ wasn't the killer...

Hockey culture is objectively awful in many ways. Just read the comments on any post related to the verdict in this case. Full of mouth breathing idiots who couldn't get laid if rape and prostitution didn't exist.
