2026-27 NHL Miscellaneous Thread

It was interesting to watch Pittsburgh systematically dismantle the Flyers last night. There was SO much hype in Philly coming into this season and they eventually just completely fell apart under the Pens' transition game and forecheck. Worth watching the first month or so from the Flyers before falling for the ad campaign

Barkov went down awkwardly and immediately left the ice.. didn't need help at least but Wasn't really even a contact injury though.

Yeah, that knee buckled a little. The good news for Barkov is that it's his left knee, not the one that required complete reconstruction last year. The bad news is that rehab can take a toll on the "other" joint if there's already a lot of wear and tear. You see it a lot with female athletes who work very hard to come back from one knee injury only to pretty quickly hurt the other knee.

I wouldn't say that it looked all that serious though. A little buckle like that hurts, but isn't likely to be an ACL ... especially given the way he left the ice. Twist/sprain/minor tear, probably.

Still no word on the severity of Barkov’s injury, but they put him on LTIR. That’s a minimum of 10 games/24 days.
