I dunno why anyone wastes their time reporting on big ticket US players potentially going to small market Canadian teams. Habs and TML have a hard enough time as it is.

So true fathers been gone 16 years but mother just turned 96 in seniors home.

my dad's was hard but my mom's hit me harder (there was 25 years between the two). Losing a parent is brutal.

I talked to my Dad the night before he died and he was the same as he always was. My Mom, on the other hand, did not know who I was at his funeral. That's why her death five years later didn't hit me so hard I suppose...I felt I'd already buried her when Dad died. ....the details are unique to each of us, but its dam hard stuff .

There is also a saying that one does not really grow up until they lose their parents. I would say that the question of mortality weighs heavy after that.. growing up death was just a distant rumor..
