That’s fine. But they need to translate that advantage into a Cup. A bunch of guys gave the Habs cap discounts, so they will have expectations.

yes, but you cannot expect that a player from outside the organization will take a discount to come play in MTL.....you will need to pay 12-15M for that 1C-2C....our stars making 7-8M will have to understand this, and deal with it....or else we ain't getting that missing center.

And looking at Larkin's situation, it doesn't look like star players are willing to waive to come to MTL, even though we have a great young team that's a contender....5-years into HuGo mandate, they are starting to realize that no matter how great this team is, players from outside the organization will still avoid Canada.
What great young 2C out there doesn't have a NTC....that'll be our only option it seems

Bridge the gap with Kap until Hage is ready , Hugo isnt paying 12 mil for a 2C
Hugo could have easily topped the MacTavish trade with our prospect depth but didn't get involved because he might not be better than Kap on the cheap .

Yeah, it's not critical yet, I'd rather make the right move that a move that will hinder us later. I don't mind short term solutions however, and I'm confident that there will be moves before or during the season.
Yeah, I'm not advocating for a "dumb" move for 2C . . . but even a better LW for Demi would help if HuGo can't find a 2C.
