2026 NHL UFA/Trade Thread

With skyrocketing $alaries this summer, I’ve become more receptive to the idea of acquiring Elias Pettersson….

Ratio of (cost of acquisition + AAV) / output for Habs 2C role under tutelage of MSL I believe to be positive

His 200ft play is also been overlooked

Kreider should help create space. Need Slaf to play big, but not to get into fights. We have Florian for that.

Florian, Bolduc, Anderson, Kreider will be needed if we face teams like Caps or Canes in playoffs.....

yeah sucks....HuGo had to pull the 2C trade before this summer......the whole NHL multiverse shifted after the Leo offer sheet

All those rumours about Robert Thomas...in hindsight, HuGo would have ponied up to get him

We need younger guys on the current roster to contribute more, a lot more. (Not so much Kreider.)

Eventually guys like Carrier and Evans need to be replaced by bigger and/or tougher customers.

Newhook needs to continue where he left off last season, Slaf & Bolduc need to take that next step up… that’s where I expect Kreider’s influence will be needed most

Yep. Kreider. Adam Nicholas. They help.

But ultimately it’s up to the player. They each have the potential, need to step up. Don’t be a Dach.

This is the avenue to go to get cost certainty on an existing contract

However not this POS who has no motor and 5 years to go on his deal

This isnt the risk to make even with salaries exploding

A shit contract is crap regardless of a rising cap

Calgary isnt doing backflips because Huby`s deal looks better now , Oils were circle jerking unloading Nurse

The players to go after are your Trochek types who dont kill your cap and buy you time for Hage

From the preseason snippets I’ve seen, more physically engaged than ever - laid out Shane Wright then destroyed Ryan Winterton in a scrap

Trocheck won’t come to 🇨🇦
