Around The League: 2016-17 Playoffs

The problem with PK with was with the whole room. The team hated him. Let's not pretend it was just 1/2 guys.

Not saying they made the right decision, but they certainly made the easy one from a management standpoint.

Just another example of upper managements inability to manage/develop individuals.

Has anyone ever confirmed that? Cause when you hear guys like Gill, Weise or Scrivens talk, they say PK was a phenomenal team mate and great in the locker room. Other than media, has anyone that was in the rook said that PK was hated?

I use those guys cause they're no longer in MTL. Guys like Price, Max et al have never said anything bad either... but you can take that with a grain of salt since they're still there. But the guys who are retired or on other teams can tell all with zero repercussions.

PK was at Price's house almost on a daily basis before Price's baby was born.....that's how close they were. Markov (and his GF) both love Subban...

I truly believe the beef was with a few vets (Max-Pleks-Prust), and the rest of the sheep just followed, including management

Price threw him under the bus with the comment about his style of hockey and team structure . My buddy`s brother works for the Habs and mentioned he was hated by most players but gave it all on the ice .

Simply put he didnt conform to to company policies , clearly the brand was bigger than the CH .

Price was approached before PK was dealt and was fine with it. Odd no?

Take it for what it is worth, but a friend of mine is friends with Brandon Prust. By his account Subban was DESPISED. Apparently completely different dude when the camera is off.

Either way, I don't care. PK was an elite talent capable of handeling the pressure of this market. The team needed to find a way to make it work.

Maybe something happened, but I know for a fact that Subban was often at Price's household before baby was born.....maybe Price got tired of Subban's attitude afterwards, but they were very close. I know this because this comes from some of Price's neighbours (which we know very well).

In every team, you have superstars that are disliked....I'm sure Patrick Kane and Dominic Hasek were not the best teammates to have...Rask often makes a scene when he's scored on, looks at his dmen...i'm sure his teammates love him for that

Agree. It may be that Price realized, or was told, it is easier to deal him than everyone else.

I still hate the deal.

All this only proves how weak-minded our players are....bunch of pussies felt challenged bu PK

My understanding, based on people I know, was that he isn't a different dude when the camera is off. That's the problem. A person who's always 'on', 24/7 gets very annoying very quickly.

As a fan, I don't really care how annoyed his teammates were. Just like I don't care how difficult an actor was on set when I go see a movie.

But for a director, that might be the difference between hiring Russel Crowe (difficult) or Tom Hanks (easy)

Re: Around The League: 2016-17 Play

Management didn't have the balls to take Subban's side when they had to decide between Max-Pleks and Subban clans

And it's gonna be inverse-Mensa level stoopid when the leave Pleckachu exposed in the expansion draft.

14 is a toxic little shit.

The only issue I have with the deal is PK thrived in this high pressure market , and often was the front man to take the heat with questions while others hated the spotlight or arent suited for it .

Montreal will destroy players who arent thick skinned , reason why many wont come here.

So you got this personality and talent all in one and this brass cant adjust and make it work . I still put part of the blame on having these old school robotic coaches who need to work with millenials differently , thats why I wanted a younger Ducharme , Groulx or even Scarface than bring back CJ .

I agree for the most part. My hope is that Marchand will be the rule and not the exception when it comes to Julien.

Gee makes a good point. Subban is willing to be the focus. All people discussed was his guarantee not that his Predators were down 2-0.

Price's best friend is Shea Weber, of course he was fine with the move. That doesn't mean he hated subban, that just means he's better friends with Weber.

I love PK but I have to admit some of his traits rub people the wrong way. The other day the 2 hosts of TSN1040 afternoon shows debated whether people like PK Subban or not. Of course they took a lot of calls which basically had many fans saying they likes what he brought to hockey but one of the host's said that PK is all about himself first and the team 2nd. He said go look at the team photos after he is part of a winning team and Subban is always dead center in the pic.

After Canada won the 2008 WJHC where PK played as really as the 7th D-man;

The team photo after Canada won Olympic gold in 2014, where PK did not play much at all... bad breath no an issue here it seems;

.. and the reason this caught my attention was because I remembered when Nashville won the conference Final a week ago that Captain Mike Fisher came on to the ice to accept the trophy despite the fact that he couldn't play in the game due to injury... and I made a note of it at that time that PK wanted to make sure he was right next to Fisher when the team photo took place;

Some people will say these pics are nothing more than an enthusiastic PK happy after being part of a winning team while others will say it is a player who thinks about his own branding first by making sure he knows where to be in the team photos all the time. Either way you can see how it might rub some fans and teammates the wrong way.
