Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

I mean, it's a dumb question. How much of your situation here is the fault of the guys wearing letters? Uh, I dunno, maybe 15%?

He gives him credit only to ask him how much of this is his fault. So, he couched it in a way that was faux complimentary, but got the negative reaction he was trying to avoid anyway.
 
When we were bad, Toronto media called players' family members, asked players if they were coach killers/difficult to coach, and wrote stories about players' eating habits. I think Howard Berger even followed a dude into the washroom at one point.

vs. Hey you made the team a contender in the past but this season hasn't gone like you wanted to, what do you guys with letters have to do the next 30 games? It's a softball question. Throw out a couple lame cliches and everyone moves on.
 
As a player receiving that, it has a little bit of a bite to it. It's asking for blame to be assigned, and specifically to the person receiving the question. I can see why he was miffed.

HL's point though is that this is a totally normal borderline softball question that most professional players deal with in various forms without having little hissy fits

I didn't really see a hissy fit there. He just calmly called him on what was a pointed question that was actually trying to blame him for the team's woes. Any player would get annoyed by that.

if players reacted like that to every annoying question from the media there would be a lot more highlights like that one....
 
Questions to Leafs players + coaches...

"It's been suggested to that you're a difficult guy to coach is there any truth to that?
"Do you have an explanation for your own troubles lately?"
"Are you embarrassed at all?"
"Have you provided the kind of leadership the captain of this franchise needs at a time like this?"
"Did you know it would be this bad when you took the job?"

He's just used to 11 years of Winnipeg treatment.

Wouldn’t feel anything if someone decided to low bridge OV and make sure he never touched any goal records.
