yeah this jives with what I've heard. which is essentially that the 'tax advantages' or particular jurisdictions are highly overstated. and may not even exist.

the other thing is that you're taxed based on where the game is played. so even if you play in Tampa, your road games are in different jurisdictions with different rules. it's hardly as black and white as it's made out to be.

Cost of living can be the real advantage to certain spots but the tax thing has been beaten to death so many times.

Cost of living and weather in Toronto vs Florida or vegas would be a consideration.

The good spots in the States have high living expenses. Much like Canada. For the non athlete the pay rate is the compensating factor.

Depends on the player. There’s plenty that want to live their life without getting mobbed every time they go out to eat. I’ve heard this from players too about how nice it is.

Also, weather isn’t always all that here.

Thing is, the top players get top $$$$$ from several teams so lifestyle (which includes weather, anonymity, how much your wife likes the place, etc) becomes a pretty big factor. Also winning Cups is huge and probably tips the scale when the money is the same. All these guys should end up with more $$$$ than they know how to squander, so a ring is nice for the ego.
