Crazy how both him and Andreas Johnsson played their first full NHL seasons in 2018/19 and scored 20 goals & 40+ points.

And then both never came close to those totals ever again before washing out of the NHL entirely before their 20’s were over.

For their usage, their numbers were real good. I miss their speed in the bottom 6. I'm sick of the slow, lumbering plugs we put there now

Nah. Plenty of stupid GMs that would have taken him in a hockey trade a few years ago. They definitely shouldn't but you can't teach size and speed!

My Montreal buddy over here (not Frenemy) is constantly preaching to me about how the Leafs should get Matheson.

Certainly a great player and would be a nice fit that adds offense to a pretty dry D, but don't think the Habs will do the smart thing and trade him this season, doubt they'd retain money and make it possible, and without a 1st I'm not sure what we'd give them that wouldn't leave a dent in the future.

Habs should trade him but I don't think the leafs are a good fit.
