He's under contract for next year as well. So they have a 3c for 1.5m next year. That could be the reason rather than another trade.

But I could see a depth d being added for sure.

and also, after a very slow start this year he's been beasting again the last month or so.

Ultimately it comes down to whether you think Laughton can be a 3c or not. If you do and you're still anti this trade, then I'm not sure what you're talking about. But if he's poop or not really a center, then I could see some hesitancy here.

Not defending the Laughton trade because I fucking hate it…but is that what teams who win the Cup actually do?

When was the last time a team made a huge, splashy big-name acquisition at the trade deadline and then went on to win a Cup?
