Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

He doesn't like getting dominated. The Danault line completely dominated his line and when he finally did score it was offside.

This was a frustration pussy move.

yeah...the Habs swarmed his ass in the neutral zone so he never got the puck cleanly

I mean Gost is bad so i actually don't disagree with him clearing, but damn if that was some big useless goon like Gudbranson I bet he would have been claimed.

Bad and "safe" is a desired player type in the NHL. It's like how every team in the NBA had a big 7 foot white centre who was really bad up until about 10-12 yrs ago.

62 career GP. would have to double check but don't think he has ever finished a full season with an above average SV%.

for comparison's sake, when the Leafs signed Freddy to the same deal (worth more at the time, granted), he was coming off of a 43 GP, .919 SV% season, vs. Demko's 27 GP, .905 SV% season...

annnnd I assume he is an RFA too?

god bless Jim Benning.

in fairness, Demko has certainly shown flashes. but goaltending is voodoo and his sample size is hardly enough to be convinced this is what he is. at least he is 6'4" <200 every day

He's been really good this year, but Its tough to sign a goalie for longer than 3-4 years.

Freddy's contract was great for 3 years before it went to shit for the final two, and he was one of those rare consistent goalie anomalies.

Demko has never handled a starter's workload (or anything close really) and I'm not sure he's ever put up above league average numbers since making the show. on top of goalies being voodoo...

that is the thing

this could actually be a great deal
or it could be terrible

a risky move that might pay off...but it is the nucks so probably not

what did markstrom sign for again?

6 x 36

and for comparison's sake, Fred signed an identical deal. we came out ahead years 1-3, and are losing in years 4-5. Fred had a better track record than Demko too. I mean he could become an above average starter, but my money would not be on him sustaining that performance through the life of the deal.
