Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Girard's a tough comp. He was putting up excellent numbers as a #2 dman on one of the best teams in hockey when he signed. But you might be right, because I think this romanov contract - or call it the Boqvist contract to get a guy from his same year with similar track record (though much higher draft slot) seems to be the right area, and I think dubas would have happily signed him to that already.

Yeah, Sandin doesn't have a very good case. 25 point, 3rd pair dman, with one almost full season.

I imagine they will have to settle for a cheap 1 year deal. If you could clear out Kerfoot and sign him for 3-4 years $3 mill or whatever, that would probably end up a good deal.

What if we sign Sandin to a too expensive for us contract but not for another team and package Kerfoot, a signed Sandin and a second/third for the one year of Patrick Kane.

Then you keep the right handed Holl or add him to the package so that you can fit Kane at 50%.

I know that Chicago will want a first, but if it only for this year, I don't know if teams will want to offer a first.

Sandin's production would be worth around $2.5 if he played a full season and probably 2nd line minutes.

His sheltered 3rd pair, 2PP minutes over 51 games should see him take a little less on a short-term deal.

Given that Lilly > Sandin at the moment, and both are better than Romanov, none of the formulaic approaches based on comps work.

I think you have this backwards, Romanov is better than both our guys at the moment, in the future we shall see.

Sandin hasn’t earned anything more than what Lilly got and right now all he is a bottom pair sheltered D.
