…and even if these games had been competently marketed & televised, what percentage of regular working adults or school-aged kids are free to watch a game at fucking 2pm on a random-ass non-holiday weekday afternoon in November?

They could’ve just arranged it so that all four of these Sweden games would be played as a pair of double-headers on Saturday & Sunday. Then most of the North American audience would’ve had NHL hockey from 8am until about 1pm both days on the weekend.

They even could’ve made even more of an event out of it by making arrangements with the cities of the teams participating to open up bars early like they do for the Olympics. That would’ve been cool as hell.

Instead, we get this half-assed dumb shit.
 
Yep, as much as the NHL likes to claim they're "growing the game", most of their decisions achieve the opposite effect. Then fresh for this season they try to float actual discrimintory policies.

I know this affects all the major leagues and how they're beholden to the massive TV contracts, but the fact that fans still have to navigate confusing blackout schedules in 2023 is pretty pathetic too.
