Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

Rick Westhead turned Hockey Canada on it's head - anyone in the hockey community that was protected by the legal slushfund should be afraid. As for NHL teams, Westhead has become point if you want your story to be heard. Westhead very likely has a whole fucking stack of accusations on his laptop that he needs to investigate and verify - but make no mistake, he has dirt on hundreds of NHLers and NHL teams that swept decades of abuse and rape under the rug using money, lawyers and NDAs.

Are there good things happening in the NHL and hockey in general, you bet there are. But that doesn't take away from the fact that many many players and women have had to live with decades of sexual trauma and abuse.

Stan Bowman has the right to remain silent but if he didn't have anything to hide he wouldn't be so reluctant to testify. His silence is a tacit admission of his guilt and complicity. He was probably also silent when all the shenanigans were going on too. His silence was his consent. He needs to be hung out to dry along with everyone else who participated in the cover up.

I hope Westhead helps to destroy Hockey Canada and any NHL organization guilty of this type of abuse. They all deserve to hang.

He has a point tho, no?
No, he doesn't.

There is no shortage, real or imagined,.of so-called "positive" or "feel good" stories around the sport of hockey. We literally have "Hockey Day in Canada" which is a 10 hour wackiest about how great the game and the people in the game are. Every front office of every pro and junior team in Christendom has a PR or media relations department full of propagandists who can write puff pieces as well as the concierge media types like Ron McLean who can fellate hockey people like a 40 dollar hooker.

Almost no one else, especially in Canada, is doing what Westhead does. If not for him, we would know next to nothing about all the misdeeds going in in hockey "culture".
