Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

South Florida is a nice place to live in comparison to most other NHL cities.

That shouldn’t be discounted as part of it for 20-something millionaires.
Quality of life can mean a nice place to live, with no state tax and being able to work out by the beach and be left the fuck alone.

Not to mention a winner, that appears to be the best run org in hockey.

Florida checks all the boxes, and Tampa and Dallas come pretty close.

Ekblad is a funny one.

Contract might end up being a disaster, and i dont think he's a true 1 ( Forsling is) but he's the best D on the market ( save for Karlsson via trade) and someone ( Toronto, but they would have to flip Rielly) will go nuts ( Habs kinda feel perfect here, as do Wings)

Ekblad is exactly what the Habs need but I think he has no interest in signing in Canada. Really is a shame.

Yeah that's fair, but i think while there is alot of reasons to not want to sign in Toronto, i think it's also fair to not include them when you hear guys dont want to play in Canada.

Of the Florida three, i suspect Ekblad is the one they have the best shot at.

Since he is the best D thought by a mile, some of these goofy teams with cap room, massive cap room, like Detroit could just make prices too uncomfortable.

Anaheim makes too much sense for Ekblad though. I’m sure he’ll get offers from multiple Canadian teams and end up in the States.

I’m not certain Marchand reups with Florida either. He got his cup and has one last 3-4 year contract in him for retirement.

Every contender and some non contenders are going to be on Marchand.

I think he's said he's going to take highest offer.

I think that means 4 years and is minumum 7 maximum 9

Even if you are a middling or even bad team. I can see the value in having Brad Marchand around in your room teaching the kids to be the right kind of cunty.

At a certain point in the deal hes assuredly moveable if you want it to come to that as well. Marchand could very well age like Corey Perry

One intangible is how the players are treated by the organization.
Exactly what Tkachuk and others have said

Florida over the last 6+ years have created a great wining ecosystem and culture

Solid regime and coach and all the amenities to raise a family with great weather and peace from the media circus

Enviroment is a factor too. Marchand was old and slow in many Bruins games this year. He lit up when he went to Florida and especially in the playoffs.

Good point but Perry has been paid peanuts for years on 1 year deals

Brad gets a big ticket and all the risk with a 35+ CBA player

I wouldnt go more than 2 years
