Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

No one should be surprised if he tells them he wants to play out the year and see where things stand.

That is absolutely what he should do if his goal is to win a cup, Leafs or no Leafs. Why commit early to this Oilers team? It's not going to be improving based on the roster it has, and the goaltending situation has never been addressed, so what's the rush. If anything, you force them to make the team much better to convince you to stay. He's already made a shit ton of money. He can afford to risk the very unlikely catastrophic injury he might suffer in the contract year.
That team has maxed-out what they can do IMO

That only works if the players have mutual respect for one another. No one had that for Marner and he's always acted like his shit doesn't stink.

some random FB post on my feed says that Elliotte has reported that Carter Hart's NHL career is over. for whatever that is worth... I kinda find that hard to believe, but what do I know...

He hasn’t posted anything to that effect on the Nazi social media site, so think it’s fair to say that’s some classic Facebook fake news.

also, putting aside my personal views on the moral blameworthiness of Hart & co.s conduct, they were acquitted, after all. and I cannot see Gary ending their careers over acquittals.

Yeah, I think they’re all pieces of shit and I hope none of them ever play for the Leafs. But difficult to see how Bettman wouldn’t be on shaky legal ground if he kept them banned after an acquittal.

And once Bettman formally gives the Ok, I suspect most, if not all of them, will be signed by NHL teams.

Fantastic news, if true. Let him pump gas for a living, the useless piece of shit that he is.

Kaepernick was never charged with any crime and he never played again. The NHL can see to it that none of these clowns ever sets foot in an NHL dressing room ever again if they want to. IMO not one of them is so good that any team should be even trying to sign any of them. They're all just average talents.

There’s prolly something in the code of conduct prohibiting any behaviour that reflects poorly on the league. So they could argue that, but it would be a fight

The bottom line is...well, the bottom line. Acquitted or not, all of these players may as well be considered radioactive. Any team that signs one of them has an instant PR shit storm on its hands. It's aggravation that no team wants nor needs. If the player was of superstar caliber then it might be worth the headache. But none of these clowns are that good. It's easy enough for any team to find themselves another Dillon Dube or Cal Foote caliber player who hasn't been charged with rape so why bother with them?
