Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

Can we just stop being fans already?

I really want to do that, so someone please explain how to be rid of this shit already.

Treliving's definitely trusting his staff here and to be fair, I still think our scouts have done a pretty good job with the picks they've had.

I'm a little curious why they couldn't trade back for this guy though.

ESPN:

28. Toronto Maple Leafs: Easton Cowan, RW

Team: London (OHL) | Rank: NAS51
DOB: 05/20/05 | Ht: 5-10.5 | Wt: 170 | Shot: L
2022-23 stats: GP: 68 | G: 20 | A: 33 | P: 53

How he fits: Toronto takes another London Knight off the board with Cowan, who kept improving throughout last season (he finished with 20 goals and 53 points in 68 games). Cowan is strong in transition, and can compete with high-end skaters off the rush. His intelligence and creativity will create opportunities others don't necessarily see. While Cowan might not have been one of the highest rated skaters coming into this draft, he certainly impressed the Leafs' scouts enough to make him a first-round choice and continue to develop through their program. -- Shilton

Everyone must be wrong about this guy. He wasn't ranked anywhere near 28. One outlier at 34.

Looks like a pretty underwhelming pick, but he missed a full year due to Covid, and really picked up his play late in the year this year and sustained it.

“His intelligence and creativity will create opportunities others don't necessarily see”

Aka he might be good despite a lack of obvious skill set

Seems like a steal to me. This is all on the scouting staff btw. Tre's mistake was that he had 4 picks after his guy got picked by Nashville to find a trade to trade down. He couldn't do it so they reached for this guy. But maybe a trade that made sense just wasn't there.
