I think JT is self dick dragging over broken glass to sign a deal that the Leafs cant say no to.
In fairness my post was a joke that didn't land. I don't have any answers on what they should do.besides Marner, who else that matters do you expect to depart?
Friedman is getting weird. NOW he claims Leafs and Vegas talked summer 24'. Why not report it then?
Holding it back for a book?
always amazing how all these guys who would never ever ever waive a NTC are so willing to leave when their contract is up.
No doubt the Leafs, as they descend back down to the bottom of the league in the next few seasons, will have many regrets about how this era of the franchise coddled talented nonperforming players and did not put the proverbial crest on the front ahead of the names on the back. There's a reason for this saying and this era of the Leafs illustrates its truth perfectly. As much as I loathe Marner, it is perfectly understandable he didn’t want to waive his NMC mere months before he’s scheduled to hit free agency and right before his wife was about to give birth to go to a team that isn’t a serious contender, almost certainly had no interest in paying him what he wants and that he likewise has no interest in playing for.
Though I’m sure the fact that this decision screwed the Leaf organization over was a delightful bonus for him.
Though that’s the problem with caving to these guys when they’re RFA’s and handing out NMC’s and NTC’s like they’re candy on Halloween.
Teams have to get ahead of the curve and make tough decisions before trade clauses kick inAs much as I loathe Marner, it is perfectly understandable he didn’t want to waive his NMC mere months before he’s scheduled to hit free agency and right before his wife was about to give birth to go to a team that isn’t a serious contender, almost certainly had no interest in paying him what he wants and that he likewise has no interest in playing for.

Leafs needed to start thinking off making changes after the Habs playoff debacle
Awww muffinonly took the great habs rebuild 4 years to make the playoffs again after that.

Yeah I get that but who is he? Is he supposed to be famous for something? The one speaking on the right.
Yep. If management had any balls or desire to win they'd have ripped the roster to shreds after blowing a 3-1 series lead to the 18th place Habs. If they'd done that then they wouldn't be staring into the abyss today.Teams have to get ahead of the curve and make tough decisions before trade clauses kick in
