Whatever, good luck to Columbus if they give him that much and land him. He's a total loser if he takes that over $13.5m that the Leafs supposedly offered. If he is leaving, I hope it's for some situation like that - way too much money and in a place where he probably gets stuck and never wins anything. And if he does leave, it's because the Leafs pulled the $13.5M offer and won't entertain that amount or more any longer. Only someone with a brain injury trades this situation for that one on his own accord.

Hey I’ve only been saying that I think he wants to stay. If he actually doesn’t, and it’s not that the Leafs now refuse to bring him back, and he chases the top dollars he can get on a team like Columbus, then good riddance.

But I do still think he hopes to stay and that any intent to leave is driven by the Leafs telling him the door is closed or just not being open to committing until they see if the Panthers guys are available.
 
Friedman is making it sound like Florida will do everything they can to keep Bennett, Ekblad and Marchand and none have much interest in leaving.

Said the Leafs and Utah will be the two with the biggest pitch to Marchand however Florida will have to give him a reason to leave

No one wanted to play in Florida when they had tax discounts and nice weather when the team was shit. This is all about how good they are.
They went 26 years without winning a playoff round. The 2023 Boston series was their first win since beating the Pens to go to the 96' finals.
