He did very well in the short term with plenty of longterm risk - Stolarz Tanev OEL Patches.

The difference is he wasn't needing to replace elite talent as much as he is this year.

Like bringing back Marner is a no.

Bringing back Tavares at anything resembling market value save for maybe a 1 year deal is a no.

I think splurging on names like Brock Boesser, Nikolaj Ehlers seems like a terrible idea

The FLorida guys might not be attainable, for reasons.

You have little and or dick all in terms of a meaningful trade

I would look to short term deals on guys like Kane, Benn, Suter, Giroux, Mangiapane, Perry, Oloffsson, Bjugstad, Smith, Beauvillier, Saad and Tanev.

This isnt pretty, but some of these guys are going to miss out on term. None of them are going to kill your long term plans and a bunch of them profile as guys that can help you in the post season.
