Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

Until you have Gary fucking galley doing your games you can stfu

Did he ever sound like he was at a funeral when the Habs scored a goal and overall called your games against his will as if he was some sort of political prisoner of the CBC? Because if not, I'd like to introduce you to the Jim Hughson experience.

Considering Gary Galley was born in a suburb of Montreal, I'm guessing not. He might be a shitty commentator, but again---at least Montreal gets an actual Hab fan calling their games.

The difference is we get guys who are both shitty commentators but who also hate our team. Like Habsfan Pierre McGuire for years, Sensfan Greg Millen, Canucksfans Jim Hughson, Craig Simpson & Ray Ferraro, Flamesfan Greg Millen, etc, etc.

The Leafs attention this playoffs is nuts. It’s way beyond Toronto is annoying. GMs are bringing us up unprompted.

I think it just proves once and for all that you’re all obsessed with us.

It's especially intense this year because of all the drama off the ice that is more interesting than what almost every other team does on the ice, and the fact that for the first time in a while they don't have Leafs playoffs games to dissect and slander 24/7.

Nobody gives a horses' puttuti about either Vegas or Carolina winning the cup. A couple of hundred thousand at most. Leafs winning is a big deal. Marner gets a ring with Vegas is a nothing burger. More people would be upset than happy. ;)

Because Leafs are a useful cautionary tale on the dangers of obsessing about blowing up your Core. The lesson is: if your team is lucky to have a handful of stars but they can't get break through to the Final, it's best to add more talented pieces rather than annually pondering "hmmm which one of our stars is the problem here?"

OK. The Leafs never blew up their core though.

And they never made the decision to move on from Marner. He's the one who made that call.

So what are you on about?

Brind'Amour didn't mention the Leafs (sorry), but when they asked him "what lessons did your team learn from all those disappointing playoff. exits"

He replied "We added more talent (K'Andre and Ehlers)"

He's a bruins fan

they didn't add to the core...they thought the core would learn "how to win"

see Brind'Amour quote above

Wat?

It was my point. I said Toronto media. It extends to Jays, raptors, news.

Toronto, for better or worse, is the media capital of Canada.

Much like New York is in the US

The problem is, as the rest of Canada rightfully willingly tell you, local coverage is given national attention. And, mostly, undeservingly so.
