Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

Lovely win. Nerdies say it was a touch lucky, and I am concerned that Vegas can still win this one. But just need 1 of 3. I beleaf.

Yup. Both teams had top 4 nerdies and were in the final 4! Just the point is that one of those teams has 26 points more than the other, but nerdies say that was sorta lucky and goaltender driven (which isn't that important in playoffs since small sample randomness with goaltending creates that volatility as we saw with the Wedgewood drop off). Tldr: nerdies always win

Just stop caring so much about goaltending, you'll never be able to control their performance in a 7 game series like you can with a 1c or 1d. And also you can't be afraid to change your goalie.

If Rod can knock out Marner next game and hold him to squat, that’ll be a dream playoff finale for me. They will point to his point total but there will be lots of talk about his disappearance when it was time to put up or shut up.

Modern goaltending is basically either get one of the top like 3-4 guys (Hellebuyck, Sorokin, Vasilevskiy), or you get 2 guys who you somewhat trust, and just hope that they can share the load and get hot in the playoffs.

Although even with that, Hellebuyck was an .895 goalie this year, and even Sorokin has only really been a mid-tier guy for the last 3 seasons.

I mean, Andersen had an .874 save percentage during the regular season, but crushed it in the first 2 rounds, didn't really get tested much in the Montreal series, and now isn't even their backup goalie for the last couple games. Adin Hill had a terrible season, but they could very reasonably give him a shot next game and he could put up back to back shutouts.

Marner pulling his standard post-game-4 playoff disappearing act in the biggest series of all & losing would be the perfect palette cleanser for Vegas’s playoff run.

Even better if Staal also manages to wrest the Conn Smythe away from him, so that Mitch’s playoff run can truly be swept into the dustbin of history & forgotten.

Mitch being the goat on Carolina’s Cup winning goal would be great too, but now I’m just getting greedy.

The organization seems to be kinda crummy to work for unless you're well placed. Friend of mine has a niece who worked in admin for them. Shortly after they won the Cup, she found another job and gave proper notice. Her boss told her that if she took the new job he'd make sure she didn't receive a Cup ring with the rest of the staff. She took the new job. Bumped her salary from five figures to a nice six. Gracefully and professionally.
