Benoit at 1.35 is whatever, its fine, he's simply a great way to measure how the GM of your team thinks, based on the style of D they like as a 6/7

Yanno, this is a fair point.
I dont think you should ever overpay a 4th liner ( unlss you are a cup conteder and super elite Chris Kelly puts you over the top or something as a 4LC), especially a winger, or 6/7 D UFA money. Ever.
You should always be using your AHL guys in these roles and find out what they are at no cost and potentially see if they can move up the lineup. It's what the Florida teams do.
Let the Lorentz/Benoit/Abe-kubel/Simmonds/Santorelli gus of the world go to dumb teams.

Your miscalculation is in thinking that a guy like Lorentz has job security. He’s easily relegated to 13th forward or buried on the Marlies with no consequence if he’s not performing. But he’s clearly a guy who shows up to play every game, even after his three year deal.

Like sure, he could be demoted or press boxed, but he has a long term deal.
I want my 4th liners playing for a contract, not having one.
