Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

The Jets managed to sign high profile people for LT deals, so I would expect the knuckleheads to throw the kitchen sink at Pettersson… ~ 11M - 12M X 8 years.

Edit: just getting caught up on this… I see they apparently offered 12X8

Same agent too, btw.

If Elias Pettersson doesn't want to stay & ends up leaving (or defacto traded), boy does Quinn Hughes have all the leverage in the world.
Hughes always had leverage on his next deal if he still produces like this

Of course, but if they have Pettersson signed, they won't be as desperate to re-sign him.

The possibility of losing both Pettersson & Hughes over the span of two years would be catastrophic for them.

They need both to go anywhere

I still think this year is that genie in a bottle year , insane PDO , career years , etc...

I'm not holding my breath but eventually the NHL will have to do something to address this epidemic of players refusing to (re-)sign with Canadian teams.

Not really much of an issue

Douchebag PLD netted PEG a great return and everybody cant flock to 3-4 teams of choice in a cap world

How can you say it's not an issue? Not only Canadian teams are on all NTCs, and have trouble attracting free agents, but now their stars are also leaving them. How can you run a competitive league when a group of teams are at a massive disadvantage?

It's not just PLD. Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Debrincat, Stone, Hellebyuk, Pettersson, Hughes. It's starting to be a lot of people.

Also FYI, there is more than 3-4 American teams in the league so not a great argument.

even though it is ancient history now, I believe many of the wives fear being trapped here if Trudeau shuts the border again. Our covid cuck rules pissed off a lot of pro athletes.
