Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

I've argued with Avs fans since they won their Cup that this was coming (and someone on Twitter told me MacKinnon, who signed the biggest contract in NHL a few months after, took a team friendly contract lol).

I wouldn't have re-signed Nichuskin and while I didn't know Landeskog was cooked, I had argued the best way for Colorado to stay competitive was to take a step back & trade Girard, or even Toews, in a sell high point of view to acquire capspace and prospects/picks. Exactly like what Tampa Bay just did with Sergachev, although I would have preferred to trade Cernak before him.

And now, they're tight on cash, they have virtually no prospects of note (and those who are of note won't be ready any time soon, assuming they pan out) and they're stuck having to do the same thing as Tampa: Sign cast offs for dirt cheap & hope they work out.
Too many luxury complimentary players. They completely mismanaged their team and got too sentimental.
