Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Yeah, you can do things like wear brighter clothing and have the lights on, but there's always a risk at night, especially keeping in mind there's always the possibility of a drunken idiot behind the wheel. That said, I'm charging the USB lights right now.
I pretend I’m invisible and no longer ride anywhere near traffic. I ride every day

That franchise seems to be under a cloud, one way or another. But nothing like this. .

Usually when players have died in traffic accidents(Horton, Lindbergh,Snyder via Heatley, others?) it has involved liquor, speed etc., but "internally" so to speak. This one, from a completely outside source, is so, so difficult to get one's head around. How does one protect oneself from the random drunks?

He would’ve survived had he just had his seatbelt on….

I always thought Expos were cursed, fortunately no player or fan ever died, but CBJ is another level altogether, didn’t a little girl die after being struck by a puck going out of play?

Geez, you're right; that was also in Columbus, in 2002. Brittanie Cecil was 13 and died from puck injury at a game.... That incident brought about the protective nets above goal ends of all the rinks.

No they do a lot.. let's go cycling, we will take a busy route without bike lanes and then a busy route with a bike lane, tell me after which one you feel safe in. Side walks are elevated 6 to 8 inches above road grade for safety reasons. They do not always work but i like the percentage.
It’s always better just to get on a mountain bike and go ride in the woods. People are the problem.

Daytime, sure. At night, not as much.

Lowest bike fatalities in the EU? Greece. Where cars, and cars only have the right-of-way. Some of the highest are in countries that cater huge to cyclists, such as Netherlands. I think ppl get way too complacent if they think they're "in the right". None of that matters when you're exposed on a 20lb bike vs a 2k kg + vehicle that can travel at a much higher speed. JMO. And I've been an ardent cyclist in the past.

Just look at Kyle Broziaks brother. Hit while walking on the side walk.

People seem to think everything is absolutes. Helmets, bike lanes, education, etc all help

I actually think bikes should just be allowed on sidewalks. Bike vs a walker seems much better than bike vs car

I trust real self driving cars over the idiots I see out there.

100% (assuming they can fix the current kinks)

Problem is perception. If there’s even one fatality caused by AI cars, the public will try to ban them even tho human drivers have worst safety stats

We’re here talking about bike lanes when a drunk blasts past someone on the right on a two lane road because he thought the car in front of him was deliberately trying to block him? Gimme a break. Could it be possible to be a more entitled douchebag?

Herb Brooks.

And former Blackhawks defenseman Keith Magnuson, who was in a car being driven by a drunk Rob Ramage.

I'm talking about a proper lame with curbs and bollards, not merely a painted line on the asphalt.
