I agree that the Canes playoff spot is not secured. I completely disagree that the Canes are weaker post deadline given Rantanen's joke of an effort in his 13 games for the Canes.

Rantanen's last game for the Canes was one of the most embarassing lackadaisical efforts I've seen a Canes player give in a very long time (maybe Alex Semin at the end of his Canes tenure).

On paper the Canes may be worse but in reality it's going to be addition by subtraction in this case. And you just know Stankhoven is going to be flying all over place trying to make an impression. I guarentee most of the Canes roster are happy that Rantanen is gone and no longer going to be moping around out there anymore.
