Same. This should be the first summer of trying to build for now but not full on as deciding what to do with Laine and dach is also in play. Both would need to take big steps to keep around (with the injuries it is possible).
 
If next season starts without HuGo having addressed the need for a 2nd line centre then pointed questions need to be asked and the answer had better not be that "Trades are hard. It's not Xbox, yada, yada, yada."

I think they keep Laine and Dach next season and hope for the best. I don't see much upside in getting rid of them at his stage.

Hugo will use draft capital and prospects to get help

I can see players in the 22-25 year old range to help now and future, no bandaids or patch jobs .

The question is how to sign Bennett to deal the team won’t regret in 3-4 years after all the heavy miles he has on his body.

I would prefer they try and pry / convince ROR out of Nashville

Anything more than 3-4 years on Beno is a clear fuck up

ROR for his last 2 years is an option but doubt he will go to Montreal

No neck gave him the option to get traded last week but supported his wish to stay , he has no trade protection .

Anyone signing Bennett hopes for 3-4 good years and then worry about the downside years later.

You need to stop thinking about players being a difference to a Cup or not, it doesn't work like that. Instead focus on improving the team. Problem with Gallagher is that he did not even deliver one single season worth of his contract. Had he delivered 4 25+ goals season and suddenly reverted to the player he is this season, I doubt we would too mad about it.

Habs cant get back to stupidity again

Just unwinding a decade of BS and last thing they need is a 7x7 mil type deal to a 29 year old who has played a ton of hard hockey and is nothing more than a 45-50 point player

You improve the team by doing the right thing , and yes the value of the player and team dynamics is everything

Beno is more valuable to the Panthers , a cup winning team with at 2-3 more years to compete with a stud lineup

Hard pass beyond 3-4 years
 
Dach and Guhle have to go. I can't bear to watch them fall over hurt anymore. Doesn't even seem to matter if anyone is near them.

They are simply screwing up the planning for the team.

Might not have a choice. Dach needs to play to have trade value. Doesn't have much now.

Laine-?-Demidov
Heineman-Evans-Dach
Anderson-Newhook-Gallagher

Really need that center. Newhook and Beck can't do it and Dach can't either. Dach may have more ceiling at skill but at least Evans is an actual center.

Really could use two Centers. Beck as fourth line might work but need a very good second line guy. Cozens would have fit. Bennett would too but I don't think he'll come to Montreal for a 3-4 year deal. He'llwant a premium.

Roslovic is available.

This is why I would offer sheet Mason McTavish or Wyatt Johnston. Fuck the picks. Tired of not having a center.

I'm not doing 7x7 either. But 6x6 I'm thinking about it. Ideally 6x5.
