No, the Leafs are a failed organization because they cant get INTO a semi-final.

One also needs to consider that Carolina does not inhabit the same reality as Montreal or Toronto. They cant charge whatever they want for tickets and assume that people will pay. The Canes, unlike the Habs and Leafs, are not a license to print money so they have to economize in ways that other teams don't.

This model is an innovative way to stay competitive while not wasting a lot of cash on busts. At the end of the day, the Canes' degree of failure is still less than the Leafs and Habs. It's a model that is working for them.
