Around The League - 2025 Playoffs

The dangerous part of this is that Treliving actually knew what they tried to do would work better. Treliving to my surprise, has done a bang up job bringing the team along from where they were two years ago to now. He inherited numbers 34 and 16. He can move on from one of them this off-season and maybe the second one too.

The last thing any leaf hater wants is a competent Toronto management team. They finally have it.

not sure what the Leafs should do ?

They drafted Marner, Matthews, Nylander.....who were arguably the best players available when they were picked in their draft year...it's not as if the Leafs missed on these picks.

You can surround them with the best grit and playoffs proven players in the world, it won't change a thing.....if your top players don't have that ''grit'' and ''will" to win, no support players will change a thing.

Team physical toughness, team mental toughness, team grit.....it works when your top line has it.....adding Bob Probert, McSorley, Laraque, Ferguson, Claude Lemieux won't help the Leafs win, unless Matthews-Marney also play like that....

Leafs should try and find a way to deal Matthews for next year's #1 pick. It would help if the landing destination is a US city that #34 likes.....
Make Beliefs are where Blow Jays were in 1990 as perennial “needing to take the next step” - until Pat Gillick made a landscape changing deal acquiring Alomar + Joe Carter for Fernandez + McGriff

May require dealing Matthews in such a mega deal….

Hughes bros (Jack + Luke) for Matthews?

Two teams, both needing seismic shakeup…

THIS. Roller boy spent too much time in what skaters used to (and still) call 'fruit boots'. He's not the one to deliver a cup to Toronto.

I would like them to win something someday. I know some elderly leaf fans who don't want to die like red sox fans.

You can finally admit they are your favourite team
Just making an observation based on objective reality. You called the Leafs a team of destiny not because you love the Leafs but merely because that's what your observations told you. Unfortunately, your observations were based largely on the Leafs' regular season performance, which you should know by now bears little resemblance to their post-season performance.

The Oilers this season, instead of blowing their brains out trying to win their division like the Leafs, half-assed their way to a 3rd place finish. But now they're fresh as daisies.

Oilers run & gun players also seem to have bought into Knoblauch’s messaging of sacrificing offensive production for making the right situational play

Trust me. Even I can no longer summon much hate for the Leafs anymore. They're on the brink of being pitied more than hated now. I used to hate watch their games and now I can barely be bothered checking the scores of their games. I watched the last half of last night's game while I was having dinner and waiting for the Oilers game to start. It was fun but how many different ways are there to tell Leafs fan that their team sucks before it gets boring for me as well as for them?

I haven't reached that point with the Cowboys, thankfully. But the Leafs? I am having trouble caring what happens to them anymore.

And you claimed Oilers had no shot with Skinhead, you were wrong again
